A Dawno PSA: Patrick Nielsen Hayden - Make an Appointment With Your Dentist!

This announcement comes to you via a request from Teresa Nielsen Hayden. Feel free to spread it around our little corner of the blogosphere - it's for his own good that we get the word out.

In other news: as if it's not enough to use poor little hamsters as Roomba control drones*, now there's the Hamster powered paper shreader.

*There are other hamster related links in that post. This one is definitely disturbing - I think the BBC should do an expose on the insidious global conspiracy to Borgify hamsters.

That's great, marty! Always good to see another 'cooler addict here. I've subbed your blog on my Google reader - I'll be keeping up with your posts and will try to comment from time to time.

Instead of using hamsters, maybe we could start using gym rats to power some new devices? Just think of all those people running and rowing and pedalling--using electricity instead of creating it.

I'm thinking maybe a jogger-powered cupcake manufacturing factory/gym. Get on the treadmill at one end of the building, eat back all the calories you burned at the other end. Works for me.

What did you say the name of that gym was, Crabby?

I was too scared to follow any of those links incase there was something horrible happening to hamsters. Please tell me there wasn't.

Nah, Marty, nothing horrible - I wouldn't post anything cruel to animals, I'm very soft hearted and love all fuzzy creatures. Except moths. They are spawn of Satan. Most of the hamsters in many of the links were were actually stuffed toy hamsters.

I can imagine hamsters would be great at powering paper shredders, as energetic as they can be in their little wheels. And LOLOL @ hamster Borgifying. It's kind of mind-bending, really, to imagine a gaggle of evil cybo-hamsters... ;-D

First it's hamsters, then gerbils and guinea pigs, then ferrets, then on to cats and dogs - where will it stop? Resistance is futile...

I rank dentists right down there with chiropractors...both use questionable methods which guarantee repeat business...

hey MWW - welcome back! While I sometimes agree with your conclusion, when I've got a toothache, I kick myself for not making at least an annual visit. I had so much dental work done on me as a youngster I have trouble forcing myself to go now. I'll probably regret it before long.
