Some Links

The Sun Online - News: This is my 4-wool drive This article about an unusual knitting creation was forwarded to me by Absolute Write member Annabella.

Snowbooks has one of the best "Author Information" pages I think I've ever seen. Thanks Andy for leaving that link down in the comments to the Vogon Poetry post.

Big sale on selected items at the OhDawno's Ebil Library and Gifts store. The donation to AW stays the same but you pay less!

Recently someone sent a rather nasty email to a fellow AW moderator. I had posted in a thread, along with many others, that was the source of the emailer's anger. This emailer coined a word: "Dawnolites" about "wannabes that hide between comic book names and cutsie little photos with little party elements on their furry little heads " she called those of us who support AW: "poor brainless Dawnolites" and "cutsie Dawnolites".

I kinda like it - Never thought I'd have a cult. I wonder what the initiation ceremony should be.

I would like to remind anyone who happens by here today that there are a couple things that Uncle Jim has said that writers should remember. (There are actually lots of things he's said you should remember - go read his "Learn Writing with Uncle Jim" thread at AW to see a lot of them!*) You want a publisher whose books you can physically find, and hold in your hands, in your bookstore. You want an agent who has sold books you've heard of. 'Nuff said about that.

*I Googled that phrase to get the link all quick-like and was surprised to see that my CafePress store is the second hit on that phrase! Wow.

I loved the open letter to authors from Snow Books. Thanks for sharing. :)

I wondered my I felt this undying urge to worship the ground you walk on and how I drool at sparkly ears...now I know it was all the cult brainwashing...all cured.

Can I be a Dawnolite even if I don't use a comic book name or have a cutsie photo?

Dawnolite sounds a bit like yogurt, I think. A breakfast item :) Dawn, get it?...

peggy, sure!

normaltrouble - it does sound like a heavy mineral - my first impression of the word was that it sounded like the name of a pre-Cambrian fossil (i.e., trilobite)

JM, Yog(h)urt is my cat. He's not on the breakfast menu....

Why don't you make some little sparkly earrings for the Gifts?

They could run off watch batteries or something.

Not only would they look exceedingly cool, but it would be a nice thumbing of the nose to whoever sent the nasty e-mail...

Zonk - it's a cool idea but the CafePress store will only allow me to sell stuff they have in their inventory, so I'd have to set up some other way to sell sparkly earrings. And I'm sure I don't have the time to make sparkly earrings, either. So sad. If I win the big Lotto...the sky's the limit :-)

btw - I didn't want laurie and aston to think I'd ignored them - sorry I didn't mention your comments earlier - it's just been a challenging week all around for Dawno's brain.

Cool - now I have an excuse to shop for my own set of sparkly ears.

This has been a trying week for Dawno's brain? but the person who sent the nasty email said that Dawno was brainless... I am confused.

One thing I'm sure of, though, is that I know that Dawno could save the entire human race if only it was required. Just LOOK at those ears. Enough said.

Peggy - I got mine at the main street gift store at Disneyland. My daughter has a pair in a pale pink. We walked all over the park in them. It was wonderful!

I barely notice when people ignore me...it happens all the time. ;-)

Hi! Marti (the hillbilly) newbie from AW. Just trying to stop by and say hello to those folks from there who were kind enough to welcome me.

I always tell myself that folks that say mean or nasty stuff like that, are just jealous little trolls - LOL

Interesting when you speak of your brain as a seperate entity...
